Prades is located in the middle of the Conflent which is the longest valley of the Eastern Pyrenees. Stretching all the way to Spain, it shelters the fabulous massif of Canigou which rises to 2714m.
The historical heritage is remarkable with many Romanesque buildings, such as churches with Baroque furniture and many abbeys.
The visit of Villefranche de Conflent, medieval city of the XIth century fortified by Vauban therafter, is unavoidable. It is also from Villefranche that you can take “le Train Jaune” that crisscrosses the Catalan Pyrenees for over 100 years and that delight lovers of beautiful mountain scenery.
